Commissioned from the artist by the sitter, Manuel de Gaviria y Alcoba, II Marquess of Casa Gaviria and I Count of Buena Esperanza (1794 – 1855), from 1851 hung in the Palacio de Gaviria, Madrid;
by descent to his son, José de Gaviria y Gutiérrez, III Marquess of Casa Gaviria and II Count of Buena Esperanza (d. Havana, 1894);
